Peterson for Governor Campaign Issues Congratulations to Lt. Governor Cox on Primary Win; Looks Forward to November Election

July 6, 2020—Salt Lake City, Utah

Democratic candidate for governor Chris Peterson congratulated Lt. Gov. Cox for his Republican Party primary win Monday. Peterson and lt. gov. candidate Karina Brown will face Cox in the general gubernatorial election in November.

“With unprecedented unemployment, a mismanaged pandemic response, underfunded public schools, and a crisis in moral leadership in Washington, more and more Utahns believe it is time for change,” Peterson said. “Karina and I plan to run a positive race focusing on issues facing Utahns in their daily lives.”

“We would like to congratulate Lt. Governor Cox and are looking forward to a thoughtful debate on the future of our state,” Brown said.

“If elected, Karina and I will work for fair taxes, respect ballot measure results, and build a business-friendly economy that treats all Utahns with dignity,” Peterson said.

The Peterson campaign also thanked former Gov. Jon Huntsman, Thomas Wright, and Greg Hughes for their efforts and public service in the Republican primary race.

Peterson and Brown are available for press interviews covering the gubernatorial race.
